Abstract
Methods and manufactures disclosed herein generally relate to a tubular composite (TCS) structure composed of multiple layers of sealing, reinforcement, sensing, protection and interspatial injected materials.
Claims35
A tubular composite structure comprising a plurality of tubular assemblies, wherein each of the tubular assemblies comprises, from innermost surface to outermost surface:
- a sealing layer having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction;
- one or more axial reinforcement layers each having a plurality of longitudinally extending filaments, wherein the one or more axial reinforcement layers are disposed around the sealing layer in a manner wherein the longitudinally extending filaments are oriented in and extend longitudinally along the axial direction for imparting axial reinforcement to the tubular assembly;
- a hoop reinforcement layer disposed around the one or more axial reinforcement layers to provide resistance to hoop stresses in the tubular assembly;
- and
- a protective layer,
- wherein each of the tubular assemblies further comprises a protective coating on at least one of the innermost surface of an innermost tubular assembly of the plurality of tubular assemblies or on the outermost surface of an outermost tubular assembly of the plurality of tubular assemblies.
A tubular composite structure comprising a plurality of tubular assemblies, wherein each of the tubular assemblies comprises, from innermost surface to outermost surface:
- a sealing layer having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction, wherein the sealing layer is plastic and at least 90% of the plastic is recycled, bio-based, and/or low carbon emission;
- one or more axial reinforcement layers each having a plurality of longitudinally extending filaments, wherein the one or more axial reinforcement layers are disposed around the sealing layer in a manner wherein the longitudinally extending filaments are oriented in and extend longitudinally along the axial direction for imparting axial reinforcement to the tubular assembly;
- a hoop reinforcement layer disposed around the one or more axial reinforcement layers to provide resistance to hoop stresses in the tubular assembly;
- and
- a protective layer.
A tubular composite structure comprising a plurality of tubular assemblies, wherein each of the tubular assemblies comprises, from innermost surface to outermost surface:
- a sealing layer having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction;
- one or more axial reinforcement layers each having a plurality of longitudinally extending filaments, wherein the one or more axial reinforcement layers are disposed around the sealing layer in a manner wherein the longitudinally extending filaments are oriented in and extend longitudinally along the axial direction for imparting axial reinforcement to the tubular assembly, wherein at least one of the one or more axial reinforcement layers comprises a fibrous material and at least one of the one or more axial reinforcement layers comprises twisted or braided micro-ropes or twisted or braided carbon fiber graphene hybrid micro-ropes;
- a hoop reinforcement layer disposed around the one or more axial reinforcement layers to provide resistance to hoop stresses in the tubular assembly;
- and
- a protective layer.
A tubular composite structure comprising a plurality of tubular assemblies, wherein each of the tubular assemblies comprises, from innermost surface to outermost surface:
- a sealing layer having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction;
- one or more axial reinforcement layers each having a plurality of longitudinally extending filaments, wherein the one or more axial reinforcement layers are disposed around the sealing layer in a manner wherein the longitudinally extending filaments are oriented in and extend longitudinally along the axial direction for imparting axial reinforcement to the tubular assembly;
- a hoop reinforcement layer disposed around the one or more axial reinforcement layers to provide resistance to hoop stresses in the tubular assembly;
- and
- a protective layer, wherein the protective layer is chosen from polyamide, tear-resistant PTFE, coated fiberglass fabric, and polyethylene.
A renewed pipe structure pair comprising:
- a host pipe;
- and
- a tubular composite structure comprising a plurality of tubular assemblies, each of the tubular assemblies comprising from innermost surface to outermost surface:
- a sealing layer having a longitudinal axis defining an axial direction,
- one or more axial reinforcement layers each having a plurality of longitudinally extending filaments, wherein the one or more axial reinforcement layers are disposed around the sealing layer in a manner wherein the longitudinally extending filaments are oriented in and extend longitudinally along the axial direction for imparting axial reinforcement to the tubular assembly,
- a hoop reinforcement layer disposed around the one or more axial reinforcement layers to provide resistance to hoop stresses in the tubular assembly, and
- a protective layer,
- wherein the tubular composite structure further comprises an interspatial annular cylinder between each adjacent pair of the tubular assemblies, and
- wherein the renewed pipe structure pair further comprises an additional interspatial annular cylinder between an outer surface of an outermost one of the tubular assemblies and an inner surface of the host pipe.
