Abstract
One embodiment of the invention is directed to a system comprising a server and a consumer device in operative communication with the server. The server comprises a processor and a computer readable medium coupled to the processor. The computer readable medium comprises computer readable program code embodied therein. The computer readable program code is adapted to be executed by the processor to receive an authorization request message for a transaction conducted by a consumer with a merchant, send the authorization request message to an issuer, modify an authorization response message to include receipt preference data, and send the authorization response message comprising the receipt data to the merchant, wherein the merchant generates a receipt for the consumer according to the receipt preference data.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- providing, by a consumer operating a computer, receipt preferences to an enrollment database located on a gateway and the enrollment database is configured to provide a merchant receipt reference and a customer receipt preference;
- interacting a portable consumer device with an access device, wherein the access device generates an authorization request message and sends the authorization request message to a server computer,
- wherein the server computer determines receipt preference data from the enrollment database, modifies an authorization response message to include the receipt preference data associated with the receipt preferences determined from the enrollment database, and transmits the authorization response message to the access device, and
- wherein the access device receives the modified authorization response message including the receipt preference data and generates a receipt according to the receipt preference data determined from the enrollment database;
- and
- receiving the receipt.
A system comprising:
- a computer operated by a consumer and being programmed to provide receipt preferences to an enrollment database located on a gateway and the enrollment database is configured to provide a merchant receipt reference and a customer receipt preference;
- the enrollment database, the enrollment database in communication with the computer;
- a portable consumer device operated by the consumer;
- and
- an access device configured to interact with the portable consumer device, wherein the access device is programmed to generate an authorization request message and send the authorization request message to a server computer, wherein the server computer is configured to determine receipt preference data from the enrollment database, modify an authorization response message to include the receipt preference data associated with the receipt preferences determined from the enrollment database, and wherein the access device further programmed to receive the modified authorization response message including the receipt preference data and generate a receipt according to the receipt preference data determined from the enrollment database.
