Abstract
A vibratory feeder having a feeder plate comprising a layered structure of a solid material and a material containing voids, such as a metal foam, sintered metal or glass, a ceramic, a foamed polymer, an aerogel or an arrangement of spacers. Scarf plates are particularly described.

A vibratory feeder comprising a feeder plate that includes a laminate of a first solid layer and a second layer comprising voids, wherein a stiffness of the feeder plate is greater than a stiffness of a feeder plate of a same mass formed from solid material of the first layer.
