Abstract
Provided herein are methods of recycling additively manufactured objects (e.g., stereolithographically produced objects), the additively manufactured objects comprising linear polyurethane, branched polyurethane, linear polyurea, branched polyurea, a copolymer thereof, or a combination thereof. Compositions comprising the same and methods of use thereof are also provided.
Claims21
A method of recycling additively manufactured objects, comprising:
- (a) providing recyclable material, the recyclable material comprised of thermoplastic additively manufactured objects or thermoplastic objects produced by flood curing scrap additive manufacturing resin, the additively manufactured objects comprising a blend of:
- (i) linear polyurethane, branched polyurethane, linear polyurea, branched polyurea, a copolymer thereof, or a combination thereof, and
- (ii) a polymerized reactive diluent;
- (b) either:
- (i) melting said recyclable material, or (ii) dissolving said recyclable material in a solvent, to provide a liquid thermoplastic material;
- and
- (c) either:
- (i) forming a new object from said liquid thermoplastic material, or (ii) packaging said liquid thermoplastic material to produce a resin, thereby recycling said objects,
- wherein the method further comprises blending the recyclable material and at least one additional thermoplastic material prior to, during, or after melting or dissolving the recyclable material.
