Ratings information

A device of signaling content advisory rating information, the device comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory associated with the processor, wherein the processor is configured to:
• signal a service announcement which is information regarding ATSC services and content, wherein the service announcement includes a service fragment describing an ATSC service;
• and
• parse content advisory rating information corresponding to a rating region table in the service fragment,
• wherein:
• the service fragment includes a service level private extension element including an icon element, a major channel number element, a minor channel number element, and a rating region tables element, and
• the rating region tables element includes the rating region table, and
• contents of the rating region tables element in the service announcement match contents in a service signaling.

A method of receiving content advisory rating information, the method including:

• receiving a service announcement which is information regarding ATSC services and content, wherein the service announcement includes a service fragment describing an ATSC service;
• and
• parsing content advisory rating information corresponding to a rating region table in the service fragment,
• wherein:
• the service fragment includes a service level private extension element including an icon element, a major channel number element, a minor channel number element, and a rating region tables element, and
• the rating region tables element includes the rating region table, and
• contents of the rating region tables element in the service announcement match contents sent in a service signaling.
