Abstract
An assembly (1) for a tire comprises a first structure (10), a second structure (12) and bearing cord elements. The assembly comprises a gimped securing element (18) comprising a core (18a) around which a gimp yarn (18b) is wound. The core (18a) exhibits an elongation at rupture Arupture_core and the gimp yarn (18b) exhibits an elongation at rupture Arupture_gimp such that: Arupture_core<A1=h/(E+e1+e2) and Arupture_gimp>A1=h/(E+e1+e2) in which h is the conformation height of the assembly, e1 is the thickness of the first structure (10), e2 is the thickness of the second structure (12), and E is the lock length.
Claims15
An assembly for a tire comprising:
- a first structure formed by first cord elements, the first structure having a longitudinal edge extending in a first direction which defines a first axis;
- a second structure formed by second cord elements, the second structure comprising a longitudinal edge extending in a second direction which defines a second axis, the first axis and the second axis being parallel;
- a bearing structure comprising bearing cord elements linking the first cord elements of the first structure and the second cord elements of the second structure;
- and
- at least one cord securing element fixed to each of the first cord elements and to the second cord elements,
- wherein the at least one cord securing element comprises a gimped cord element comprising a core around which a gimp yarn is wound,
- wherein the core of the at least one cord securing element exhibits an elongation at rupture lower than a ratio between a conformation height h of the assembly and a sum of a thickness of the first structure, of a thickness of the second structure, and of a lock length:
- Arupture_core<h/(E+e1+e2)
- in which:
- Arupture_core is the elongation at rupture of the core,
- h is the conformation height of the assembly, corresponding to a height between opposite faces of the first structure and of the second structure when the bearing cord elements are taut,
- e1 is the thickness of the first structure, e2 is the thickness of the second structure, and
- E is the lock length, and
- wherein the gimp yarn of the at least one cord securing element exhibits an elongation at rupture greater than an elongation equal to the ratio between the conformation height h of the assembly and the sum of the thickness of the first structure, of the thickness of the second structure, and of the lock length:
- Arupture_gimp>h/(E+e1+e2)
- in which:
- Arupture_gimp is the elongation at rupture of the gimp yarn.
