Information processing apparatus and control method that provide an inspecting feature of inspecting for a predetermined character string in scanned data depending on a transmission destination

An information processing apparatus comprising:

• at least one memory device that stores instructions;
• and
• at least one processor that executes the instructions to:
• extract a character string from scan data obtained by scanning a document;
• set one of a plurality of settings, including a first setting and a second setting, wherein:
• the first setting causes execution of an inspection process, which determines whether a registered predetermined character string is included in the extracted character string, in a state where a predetermined transmission destination is designated as information about a transmission destination of the scan data, and
• the second setting does not cause execution of the inspection process, in a state where the predetermined transmission destination is designated as the information about the transmission destination of the scan data;
• execute the inspection process on the scan data, in a state where the first setting is set and the predetermined transmission destination is a first transmission destination;
• and
• not execute the inspection process on the scan data, in a state where the first setting is set and the predetermined transmission destination is a second transmission destination different from the first transmission destination.
