Dynamic image recognition model updates

A mobile device, comprising:

• a processing system including a processor;
• and
• a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations including:
• obtaining first image data for a first image from an electronic device, the first image data including first information associated with a first object identified by the electronic device, using a first image recognition operation, as being in the first image;
• obtaining second image data for a second image from the electronic device subsequent to receiving the first image data, the second image data including second information associated with a second object identified by the electronic device as being in the second image;
• determining location information based on the first information and the second information;
• and
• providing the location information and update model information based on the first image and the location information, responsive to receiving model update request, to the electronic device,
• wherein the update model information includes image data to replace model information used by the electronic device to identify the first object, the second object, or both, and
• wherein the model update request is received from the electronic device, when it is determined by the electronic device that a confidence value of the first image recognition operation fails to satisfy a confidence threshold.

A method, comprising:

• obtaining, by a processing system including a processor, first image data for a first image from an electronic device, the first image data including first information associated with a first object identified by the electronic device, using a first image recognition operation, as being in the first image;
• obtaining, by the processing system, second image data for a second image from the electronic device subsequent to receiving the first image data, the second image data including second information associated with a second object identified by the electronic device as being in the second image;
• identifying, by the processing system, location information based on the first information and the second information;
• and
• providing, by the processing system, the location information and update model information based on the first image and the location information, responsive to receiving model update request to the electronic device,
• wherein the update model information includes image data to replace model information used by the electronic device to identify the first object, the second object, or both, and
• wherein the model update request is received from the electronic device, when it is determined by the electronic device that a confidence value of the first image recognition operation fails to satisfy a confidence threshold.
