Bag-making and packaging machine

A bag-making and packaging machine configured to work with a weighing machine installed upstream thereof to manufacture a bag containing an article discharged from the weighing machine, the bag-making and packaging machine comprising:

• a forming unit that forms a film into a tubular shape;
• a transverse sealing unit that transversely seals the film that has been formed into the tubular shape;
• a conveyance unit that conveys the film;
• a control unit that controls the bag-making and packaging machine to operate in a normal production mode and in a disposal mode;
• and
• a communication unit adapted to send to the weighing machine a signal relating to discharge therefrom of the article;
• wherein the control unit is configured to control operation of the bag-making and packaging machine such that
• during operation in the normal production mode, the bag-making and packaging machine receives the article discharged from the weighing machine after the signal has been sent and the transverse sealing unit is operated without skipping operation of the transverse sealing unit to manufacture the bag in which the transverse seal is formed from the tubular film, and
• during operation in the disposal mode, the bag-making and packaging machine receives the article discharged from the weighing machine after the signal has been sent and the transverse sealing unit is operated to skip a predetermined number of times the operation of the transverse sealing unit so as to manufacture a plurality of the bags that are longer than the length of the bag manufactured in the normal production mode, and to divide the article present in the weighing machine into the plurality of the bags and discharge the plurality of the bags.
