Abstract
A high pressure pump. The pump comprises a fluid end assembly supported on a power end assembly. The power end assembly is modular and held together by a first set of stay rods. The fluid end assembly comprises a plurality of fluid end sections positioned in a side-by-side relationship. Each fluid end section comprises a housing made of multiple-piece construction. One or more pieces of the housing are configured to having a second set of stay rods attached thereto. The second set of stay rods interconnect the fluid end assembly and a power end assembly and a vertically offset from the first set of stay rods.
Claims33
An apparatus, comprising:
- a modular power end assembly secured together by a plurality of first stay rods, each of the plurality of first stay rods traversing a length of the modular power end assembly and terminating at opposed first and second ends of the modular power end assembly;
- a modular fluid end assembly comprising:
- a variable pressure section comprising at least one suction valve;
- and
- a constant pressure section attached to the variable pressure section and comprising at least one discharge bore;
- a stuffing box engaging the variable pressure section and having opposed first and second surfaces, the stuffing box further having a central passage and a plurality of passages formed therein, the plurality of passages surrounding the central passage;
- and in which the central passage and each of the plurality of passages open on the first surface of the stuffing box;
- a plurality of fasteners, each fastener disposed within a corresponding one of the plurality of passages and attaching the stuffing box to the variable pressure section;
- a plunger packing installed within the central passage of the stuffing box at the first surface of the stuffing box;
- and
- a packing nut attached to the stuffing box and engaging the plunger packing;
- and
- a plurality of second stay rods, each of the plurality of second stay rods projecting from the first end of the modular power end assembly and attached to the constant pressure section of the fluid end assembly.
An apparatus, comprising:
- a fluid end assembly configured to be attached to a power end assembly using a plurality of stay rods, the fluid end assembly comprising:
- a housing having a plurality of through-bores formed therein, each through-bore configured to receive a corresponding one of the plurality of stay rods such that an end of each of the plurality of stay rods is positioned adjacent a front surface of the fluid end assembly;
- a stuffing box attached to the housing and having opposed first and second surfaces, the stuffing box further having a central passage and a plurality of passages formed therein, the plurality of passages surrounding the central passage;
- and in which the central passage and each of the plurality of passages open on the first surface of the stuffing box;
- a plurality of fasteners, each fastener disposed within a corresponding one of the plurality of passages and attaching the stuffing box to the housing;
- a plunger packing installed within the central passage of the stuffing box at the first surface of the stuffing box;
- and
- a packing nut attached to the stuffing box and engaging the plunger packing.
