Claims12
A system for powering a medical device comprising:
- at least one internal battery located in the medical device;
- at least one external battery including built-in circuits for measuring state-of-charge connected to the medical device and further comprising a keying feature;
- a master controller configured to communicate with the circuits of the external battery and selectively connect to only one of the at least one internal battery or the at least one external battery to a power bus to power the medical device, the master controller configured to recharge the at least one internal battery using the at least one external battery;
- and
- a holster configured to accept and secure the at least one external battery whereby the battery is exposed, the holster including power contacts and communication contacts configured to couple to the at least one external battery.
