## Abstract

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a network API service that receives network event data and provides performance hints to a resource manager that manages application containers at edge cloud locations. Network event data may be received from access networks, core networks, nodes within access networks or core networks, or the like. Performance hints may allow booting of application containers at edge cloud locations. Other embodiments are disclosed.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the performance hints further include commands to boot the application container or a virtual machine at a particular edge cloud location among the edge cloud locations.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the performance hints further include commands to take down the application container or a virtual machine at a particular edge cloud location among the edge cloud locations.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise predicting, via the network API, ingestion of data streams of the network event data from the first plurality of network elements, the second plurality of network elements, or both.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:
analyzing the network event data;
predicting the performance hints that enhance performance of edge cloud entities; and
providing the performance hints to server applications.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise providing a list of network APIs available to server applications at a network API gateway.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise receiving, at the network API, a request to authenticate, on behalf of a user, on behalf of a user equipment (UE) device, or on behalf of an application running on the UE device, to determine different network API service privileges associated with the user, the UE device, or the application.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The device of claim 7, wherein the operations further comprise determining that the UE device has network API service privileges by verifying that the UE device is registered to a user of a particular service provider.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The device of claim 1, wherein the network event data includes a handover of a UE device from a first access network to a second access network; and
the operations further comprise, in response to the handover of the UE device, providing, by the network API, the performance hints to a resource manager at an edge cloud location associated with the second access network to boot an application container.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The device of claim 9, wherein the operations further comprise providing, by the network API, the performance hints to another resource manager associated with the first access network to shut down or delete application containers.

### Claim 11

A method comprising:
registering, by a processing system including a processor, a network application programming interface (API) with a communications network;
receiving, by the processing system, network event data at the network API from a core network within the communication network;
receiving, by the processing system, the network event data at the network API from an access network within the communication network; and
in response to the network event data, providing, by the processing system, via the network API, a response indicative of performance hints based on the network event data,
wherein the performance hints include actions or commands that enhance performance of edge cloud entities.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein the performance hints comprise:
identification of edge cloud locations at which a first application container is available for commands;
commands to boot a second application container or a first virtual machine at first edge cloud location; and
commands to take down a third application container or a second virtual machine at a second edge cloud location.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, further comprise receiving, by the processing system, at the network API, a request to authenticate, on behalf of a user, on behalf of a UE device, or on behalf of an application running on the UE device, to determine different network API service privileges associated with the user, the UE device, or the application.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, further comprising:
when authentication is on behalf of the user, providing, by the processing system, the network API services from any device or application associated with the user;
when authentication is on behalf of the UE device, providing, by the processing system, the network API services on behalf of any application running the UE device; and
when authentication is on behalf of the application, providing, by the processing system, the network API services limited to requests made by the application.

### Claim 15 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, further comprising providing, by the processing system, an authentication nonce to a UE device, wherein the authentication nonce includes a one-time-use identifier that uniquely identifies the UE device as having been authenticated by the network API.
