## Abstract

A personal care appliance with a flexible circuit board having a first end portion, a second end portion and a flexible bridge between the first end portion and the second end portion. A first rigid circuit board is mounted to the first end portion of the flexible circuit board. A second rigid circuit board is mounted to the second end portion of the flexible circuit board and folded over the first rigid circuit board. At least one electronic component that emits electromagnetic waves is mounted to the first rigid circuit board. A flexible shield is folded over the at least one electronic component.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A personal care appliance comprising:
a flexible circuit board having a first end portion, a second end portion and a flexible bridge between the first end portion and the second end portion;
a first rigid circuit board mounted to the first end portion of the flexible circuit board;
a second rigid circuit board mounted to the second end portion of the flexible circuit board and folded over the first rigid circuit board;
at least one electronic component that emits electromagnetic waves mounted to the first rigid circuit board; and
a flexible shield extends from the first rigid circuit board and folds over the at least one electronic component when in an upright position.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The personal care appliance of claim 1 wherein the flexible shield is positioned between the first rigid circuit board and the second rigid circuit board.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The personal care appliance of claim 1 wherein the flexible shield comprises copper.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The personal care appliance of claim 1 wherein the flexible shield is not in electrical contact with the first rigid circuit board or the second rigid circuit board.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The personal care appliance of claim 1 further comprising a flexible antenna positioned on the first rigid circuit board, the flexible antenna is in electrical communication with first rigid circuit board, the flexible antenna having a top surface with a copper track facing away from the first rigid circuit board.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The personal care appliance of claim 1 further comprising a handle and an electronic subassembly, the electronic subassembly including the flexible shield, the first rigid circuit board, the second rigid circuit board and a platform that supports the first rigid circuit board, wherein the handle includes a housing that defines a cavity dimensioned to receive the electronic subassembly.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The personal care appliance of claim 6 further comprising a flexible antenna positioned on and in electrical communication with the first rigid circuit board, wherein the flexible antenna is secured to a lower surface of the platform.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The personal care appliance of claim 7 wherein the first circuit board is positioned between the second circuit board and the platform.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The personal care appliance of claim 7 wherein the flexible antenna is bent around a portion of the platform.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The personal care appliance of claim 7 wherein the flexible antenna defines at least one opening that engages a tab on the platform.

### Claim 11

An electronic subassembly for a personal care appliance comprising:
a flexible circuit board having a first end portion, a second end portion and a flexible bridge between the first end portion and the second end portion;
a first rigid circuit board mounted to the first end portion of the flexible circuit board;
a second rigid circuit board mounted to the second end portion of the flexible circuit board and folded over the first rigid circuit board;
at least one electronic component that emits electromagnetic waves mounted to the first rigid circuit board;
a flexible shield extends from the first rigid circuit board and folds over the at least one electronic component; and
a flexible antenna in electrical communication with first rigid circuit board, wherein the flexible antenna flexible antenna is positioned on the first rigid circuit board and is folded under the first rigid circuit board when in an upright position.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The electronic subassembly of claim 11 wherein the flexible shield and the flexible antenna are positioned on an opposite sides of the first rigid circuit board.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The electronic subassembly of claim 11 wherein the flexible antenna includes a copper track facing away from the first rigid circuit board.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The electronic subassembly of claim 11 wherein the flexible shield is not in electrical contact with the first rigid circuit board or the second rigid circuit board.

### Claim 15

A method of assembling a personal care appliance comprising:
providing a flexible bridge between a first rigid circuit and a second rigid circuit board;
mounting at least one electronic component emitting electromagnetic waves to the first rigid circuit board or the second rigid circuit board;
providing a flexible shield extending out from first rigid circuit board or the second rigid circuit board;
folding the flexible shield over the at least one electronic component; and
folding the second rigid circuit board over the first rigid circuit board by bending the flexible bridge.

### Claim 16 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15 further comprising securing the first rigid circuit board to a platform.

### Claim 17 (depends on 15)

The method of claim 15 further comprising positioning the platform within a chamber of a housing and securing the second rigid circuit board to the housing.
