## Abstract

An article can include a ceramic insulator with an interior surface defining a recess, an insulator aperture in the interior surface, and an insulator cooling channel extending through at least a portion of the ceramic insulator to the insulator aperture. A first conductor can be at least partially disposed within the recess.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An article, comprising:
a ceramic insulator comprising an interior surface defining a recess, an insulator aperture in the interior surface, and an insulator cooling channel extending through at least a portion of the ceramic insulator to the insulator aperture; and
a first conductor at least partially disposed within the recess and comprising a first exterior surface, a first aperture in the first exterior surface, and a conductor cooling channel extending through at least a portion of the first conductor to the first aperture, with the first aperture fluidly coupled to the insulator aperture to define a cooling flow path extending through the article along the conductor cooling channel and the insulator cooling channel.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The article of claim 1, wherein the first conductor comprises a first end disposed within the recess.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The article of claim 2, wherein the first aperture is located at the first end.

### Claim 4 (depends on 2)

The article of claim 2, wherein the first aperture is spaced from the first end.

### Claim 5 (depends on 2)

The article of claim 2, further comprising a second conductor at least partially disposed within the recess adjacent the first conductor and having a second end.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The article of claim 5, wherein the first end of the first conductor is joined to the second end of the second conductor to form a conductive joint.

### Claim 7 (depends on 5)

The article of claim 5, wherein the second end of the second conductor is joined to a side of the first conductor to form a conductive joint.

### Claim 8 (depends on 5)

The article of claim 5, wherein the insulator cooling channel overlies the second conductor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The article of claim 1, wherein the insulator cooling channel is unaligned with the conductor cooling channel.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

A system comprising:
a stator comprising the article of claim 1; and
a rotor, wherein the rotor is configured to rotate relative to the stator.

### Claim 11

An article, comprising:
a ceramic insulator comprising an interior surface defining a recess, an insulator aperture in the interior surface, and an insulator cooling channel extending through at least a portion of the ceramic insulator to the insulator aperture;
a first conductor at least partially disposed within the recess;
a recess cooling channel defined by a gap formed between the interior surface and at least a portion of the first conductor;
wherein the insulator aperture is fluidly coupled to the gap to define a cooling flow path extending through the article along the recess cooling channel and the insulator cooling channel.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The article of claim 11, wherein the first conductor comprises a first end disposed within the recess.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The article of claim 12, wherein the insulator aperture is spaced from the first end.

### Claim 14 (depends on 12)

The article of claim 12, further comprising a second conductor at least partially disposed within the recess adjacent the first conductor and having a second end.

### Claim 15 (depends on 14)

The article of claim 14, wherein the first end of the first conductor is joined to the second end of the second conductor to form a conductive joint.

### Claim 16 (depends on 14)

The article of claim 14, wherein the second end of the second conductor is joined to a side of the first conductor to form a conductive joint.

### Claim 17 (depends on 14)

The article of claim 14, wherein the first conductor and the second conductor form an L-shaped arrangement.

### Claim 18 (depends on 14)

The article of claim 14, wherein the insulator cooling channel overlies the second conductor.

### Claim 19 (depends on 12)

The article of claim 12, wherein the first end of the first conductor is disposed within the recess and spaced from the gap.

### Claim 20 (depends on 11)

A system comprising:
a stator comprising the article of claim 11; and
