## Abstract

A scroll compressor is disclosed, which comprises an auxiliary discharge path capable of sufficiently making sure of a discharge area at an initial discharge stage. The compressor comprises a fixed scroll including a fixed end plate portion and a fixed wrap, and an orbiting scroll including an orbiting end plate portion and an orbiting wrap, wherein a discharge hole is formed in the fixed end plate portion, and an auxiliary discharge path for connecting a side of the orbiting wrap with a bottom surface of the orbiting wrap is provided to be communicated with the discharge hole, whereby a compressed refrigerant may be discharged through the auxiliary discharge path.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A compressor comprising:
a case;
a driving motor coupled to the case;
a rotary shaft coupled to the driving motor;
a main frame coupled to the case, wherein the rotary shaft passes through the main frame;
a fixed scroll including (i) a fixed end plate portion that is coupled to the case and faces the main frame and (ii) a fixed wrap protruding from the fixed end plate portion;
an orbiting scroll including (i) an orbiting end plate portion accommodated between the main frame and the fixed scroll, (ii) an orbiting wrap that protrudes from the orbiting end plate portion and faces the fixed wrap, and (iii) a center portion that extends from the orbiting wrap and accommodates at least a portion of an outer surface of the rotary shaft,
wherein the center portion of the orbiting scroll rotatably supports the outer surface of the rotary shaft and defines a groove that is recessed toward the driving motor relative to an end surface of the orbiting wrap facing the fixed end plate portion,
wherein the center portion has an inner peripheral surface defining a hole that accommodates the rotary shaft, and
wherein the groove is recessed from an outer peripheral surface of the center portion toward the hole, and a circumference of the groove is spaced apart from the inner peripheral surface of the center portion.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the center portion and the groove face an inner surface of the fixed end plate portion.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of the center portion is in contact with the fixed end plate portion.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the groove is spaced apart from the fixed end plate portion.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein a depth of the groove is less than 30% of a height of the orbiting wrap protruding from the orbiting end plate portion.

### Claim 6 (depends on 5)

The compressor according to claim 5, wherein the depth of the groove is greater than 10% of the height of the orbital wrap.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the groove is configured to communicate with a space that faces the fixed wrap and the orbiting wrap.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the fixed scroll defines a discharge hole that passes through the fixed end plate portion and is configured to discharge refrigerant, and
wherein the groove includes an inlet communicating with the discharge hole.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein at least a portion of a side surface of the center portion faces the orbiting wrap.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The compressor according to claim 9, wherein a height of the center portion protruding from the orbiting end plate portion corresponds to a height of the orbiting wrap protruding from the orbiting end plate portion.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the fixed scroll defines a discharge hole that passes through the fixed end plate portion and is configured to discharge refrigerant, and
wherein the discharge hole is defined at a location of the fixed end plate portion that is radially spaced apart from the hole defined at the center portion.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The compressor according to claim 1, wherein the groove has a bottom surface defining a depth of the groove that is less than a height of the orbiting wrap protruding from the orbiting end plate portion.
