## Abstract

Systems and methods involving an intraocular implant with input and/or output electronics are described. In some embodiments, the system includes an intraocular lens having at least one optic operably coupled to a haptic, one or more input electronics on the haptic and/or the optic; and one or more output electronics on the haptic and/or the optic for receiving and/or transmitting data.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An implantable intraocular lens (IOL), comprising:
an optic;
a haptic attached to the optic;
a forward-facing camera on the haptic;
a power source on the haptic;
a display on the optic, the display sized and configured to overlay graphics in the user's view of the physical world;
a processor on the haptic configured to receive signals from the camera and send graphics data to the display;
a communications module on the haptic, the communications module configured to wirelessly transmit and receive information with respect to an external device.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the lens is a pseudophakic lens.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the lens is an accommodating lens.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the lens is a phakic lens.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, comprising a plurality of optics.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the camera comprises a video camera.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the display comprises LED technology.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the display is centered on the optic.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the display is off-centered on the optic.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, further comprising a GPS chip.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, further comprising a RFID chip.

### Claim 12 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the communications module comprises cellular technology.

### Claim 13 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the communications module comprises 802.11 technology.

### Claim 14 (depends on 1)

The implantable intraocular lens of claim 1, wherein the power source is wirelessly rechargeable via an external source.
