A signal processing method, comprising:

• calculating a correlation between a first sound pickup signal by a first microphone installed outside a specific region and a second sound pickup signal by a second microphone installed in the specific region, wherein the correlation is calculated based on application of a low-pass filter to the first sound pickup signal and the second sound pickup signal;
• determining the correlation;
• and
• performing control based on a result of the determination.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon, computer-executable instructions which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to execute operations, the operations comprising:

• calculating a correlation between a first sound pickup signal by a first microphone installed outside a specific region and a second sound pickup signal by a second microphone installed in the specific region, wherein the correlation is calculated based on application of a low-pass filter to the first sound pickup signal and the second sound pickup signal;
• determining the correlation;
• and
• performing control based on a result of the determination.

A sound device, comprising:

• a first microphone installed outside a specific region;
• a second microphone installed in the specific region;
• a reproduction unit configured to output audio within the specific region;
• a processing unit configured to perform signal processing to generate a cancellation signal output from the reproduction unit based on a first sound pickup signal by the first microphone and a second sound pickup signal by the second microphone;
• and
• a control unit configured to control execution of generation processing of the cancellation signal in the processing unit or output of the cancellation signal based on a correlation between the first sound pickup signal and the second sound pickup signal, wherein the correlation is based on application of a low-pass filter to the first sound pickup signal and the second sound pickup signal.
