## Abstract

Disclosed is a connector for hingedly mounting a buttstock to a receiver of a rifle having a swinging hinge portion, a buttstock side of the swinging hinge portion, an interface side of the swinging hinge portion, a threaded portion of the swinging hinge portion, a buffer hole extending from the interface side, through the swinging hinge portion, and through the threaded portion, a recess on the interface side of the swinging hinge portion, a bolt, and a base of the bolt rotationally constrained in the recess.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A connector for hingedly mounting a buttstock to a receiver of a rifle, the connector comprising:
a swinging hinge portion;
a buttstock side of the swinging hinge portion;
an interface side of the swinging hinge portion;
a threaded portion of the swinging hinge portion;
a buffer hole extending from the interface side, through the swinging hinge portion, and through the threaded portion;
a recess on the interface side of the swinging hinge portion;
a bolt extending orthogonally from the interface side for locking the swinging hinge portion to a fixed hinge portion; and
a base of the bolt rotationally constrained in the recess.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The hinge of claim 1 further comprising:
a hole extending through the swinging hinge portion into the recess; and
a screw connected to the bolt through the hole.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The hinge of claim 1 wherein the bolt is formed from a different material than the swinging hinge portion.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The hinge of claim 1 wherein the base of the bolt is not round.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The hinge of claim 1 further comprising:
a buffer stop of the swinging hinge portion.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The hinge of claim 1 further comprising:
a retainer hole intersecting the buffer hole; and
a buffer retainer captively retained in the retainer hole.

### Claim 7 (depends on 6)

The hinge of claim 6 further comprising:
a first flattened portion of the buffer retainer;
a second flattened portion of the buffer retainer; and
wherein each of the first and second flattened portions protrude into the buffer hole.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The hinge of claim 7 wherein the first flattened portion is shorter than the second flattened portion.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The hinge of claim 8 further comprising:
a pin hole intersecting the retainer hole; and
a pin in the pin hole adjacent the second flattened portion of the buffer retainer.

### Claim 10

A hinge for connecting a buttstock to a receiver of a rifle, the hinge comprising:
a first hinge portion;
a second hinge portion rotably connected to the first hinge portion;
a latch;
a bolt hole in the first hinge portion;
a recess in the second hinge portion; and
a bolt extending orthogonally from the first hinge portion and partially disposed in the recess, the bolt sized in relative proportions to be received in the bolt hole and releasably lock the first hinge portion to the second hinge portion.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The hinge of claim 10 further comprising:
a hole extending through the second hinge portion into the recess; and
a screw connected to the bolt through the hole.

### Claim 12 (depends on 10)

The hinge of claim 10 further comprising:
wherein the bolt is formed from a different material than the second hinge portion.

### Claim 13 (depends on 10)

The hinge of claim 10 wherein the bolt is not round and rotationally constrained within the recess.

### Claim 14 (depends on 10)

The hinge of claim 10 further comprising:
a buffer hole;
a retainer hole intersecting the buffer hole;
a buffer retainer captively retained in the retainer hole;
a first flattened portion of the buffer retainer;
a second flattened portion of the buffer retainer; and
wherein each of the first and second flattened portions protrude into the buffer hole.
