## Abstract

A toy figurine and/or toy figurine packaging is coated with a dissolvable layer. When the toy figurine is coated, the toy figurine is entirely coated so that its overall appearance, including its skin complexion and/or facial features, is substantially hidden or obscured. Then, when the figurine is submerged in a fluid, the dissolvable layer dissolves to reveal the figurine's appearance that had been hidden underneath the dissolvable layer. When the toy figurine packaging is coated, the toy figurine packaging hides the identity of a toy figurine enclosed therein until fluid is introduced to the packaging.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A toy play set, comprising:
a toy;
a vessel within which the toy is packaged, the vessel defining a sealable compartment that, when sealed, defines a fixed volume; and
a dissolvable layer disposed on the toy to obscure an overall appearance of the toy, wherein the fixed volume of the sealable compartment is sized to receive an amount of fluid sufficient to fully dissolve the dissolvable layer and, once dissolved, the dissolvable layer renders the amount of fluid opaque, and wherein the vessel is at least partially transparent so that, when the dissolvable layer is dissolved and opaque fluid is removed, the overall appearance of the toy is visible through the vessel.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, wherein the sealable compartment is a fluid compartment and the vessel comprises an interior wall that defines the fluid compartment and a toy compartment sized to receive the toy.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, wherein the sealable compartment is at least partially formed from or covered by opaque materials so that, aside from a portion of the vessel that is at least partially transparent, the sealable compartment is substantially opaque.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The toy play set of claim 3, wherein the sealable compartment is configured to receive the amount of fluid subsequent to removal, from the vessel, of at least a portion of the sealable compartment formed from or covered by the opaque materials.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, wherein the fixed volume is sized based on an amount of the dissolvable layer included on the toy to achieve a ratio of the amount of fluid to the amount of the dissolvable layer in a range of 0.7 liter per gram to 1 liter per gram.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, further comprising: opaque absorbent pellets disposed in the sealable compartment, wherein the opaque absorbent pellets expand upon absorbing the fluid so that the opaque absorbent pellets increasingly obscure the toy as the dissolvable layer reveals the overall appearance of the toy.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, further comprising: opaque outer packaging that, when disposed on the vessel, substantially covers the vessel to hide the toy positioned therein from view; accessories that match the overall appearance of the toy, the accessories being packaged in obscure packaging so that the obscure packaging and the dissolvable layer collectively hide an identity of the toy; or both the opaque outer packaging and the accessories.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The toy play set of claim 1, further comprising a hook configured to support the vessel on a display rod at a point of sale.

### Claim 9

A toy play set, comprising:
a toy;
a vessel within which the toy is packaged;
a dissolvable layer disposed on the toy to obscure an overall appearance of the toy, wherein the dissolvable layer is dissolvable in a fluid and the vessel is at least partially transparent so that, when the dissolvable layer is dissolved, the overall appearance of the toy is visible through the vessel; and
opaque outer packaging that, when disposed on at least a portion of the vessel to hide at least a portion of the toy positioned therein from view, accessories that match the overall appearance of the toy and are packaged in obscure packaging so that the obscure packaging and the dissolvable layer collectively hide an identity of the toy, or both the opaque outer packaging and the accessories.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The toy play set of claim 9, wherein the identity is selected from a set of identities associated with toys of like dimensions.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The toy play set of claim 9, wherein the vessel defines a sealable compartment that, when sealed, defines a fixed volume sized to receive an amount of the fluid sufficient to fully dissolve the dissolvable layer.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The toy play set of claim 11, wherein the fixed volume is sized so that, once dissolved, the dissolvable layer renders the amount of fluid opaque.

### Claim 13 (depends on 11)

The toy play set of claim 11, wherein the sealable compartment is configured to receive the amount of fluid subsequent to removal, from the vessel, of at least a portion of the sealable compartment formed from or covered by opaque materials.

### Claim 14 (depends on 11)

The toy play set of claim 11, wherein the fixed volume is sized based on an amount of the dissolvable layer included on the toy to achieve a ratio of the amount of fluid to the amount of the dissolvable layer in a range of 0.7 liter per gram to 1 liter per gram.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The toy play set of claim 13, wherein the sealable compartment is at least partially formed from or covered by the opaque materials so that, aside from a portion of the vessel that is at least partially transparent, the toy compartment is substantially opaque.

### Claim 16 (depends on 9)

The toy play set of claim 9, further comprising: opaque absorbent pellets disposed in the vessel, wherein the opaque absorbent pellets expand upon absorbing the fluid so that the opaque absorbent pellets increasingly obscure the toy as the dissolvable layer reveals the overall appearance of the toy.

### Claim 17

A toy play set comprising:
a toy;
a vessel within which the toy is packaged, the vessel comprises an interior wall that defines a fluid compartment and a toy compartment sized to receive the toy; and
a dissolvable layer disposed on a surface of the interior wall defining the fluid compartment and arranged to obscure an overall appearance of the toy, wherein the dissolvable layer is dissolvable in a fluid and the vessel is at least partially transparent so that, when the dissolvable layer is dissolved, the overall appearance of the toy is visible through the vessel.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The toy play set of claim 17, wherein the interior wall extends across the vessel.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The toy play set of claim 17, wherein, aside from the interior wall, the toy compartment is at least partially formed from or covered by opaque materials so that, aside from the interior wall, the toy compartment is substantially opaque.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The toy play set of claim 17, further comprising: opaque absorbent pellets disposed in the fluid compartment, wherein the opaque absorbent pellets expand upon absorbing the fluid so that the opaque absorbent pellets increasingly obscure the toy as the dissolvable layer reveals the overall appearance of the toy.
