Abstract
A system for processing foodstuffs includes a container platform, a blade platform, and a locking mechanism. The container platform defines a container receptacle configured to receive a container including foodstuffs. The blade platform includes blades configured to rotate to process the foodstuffs. The locking mechanism is configured to couple the container platform to the blade platform to form a blending chamber including the blades and the container subsequent to determining that the container is received by the container receptacle and prior to rotation of the blades.
Claims18
A system for processing foodstuffs, comprising:
- a container platform defining a container receptacle configured to receive a container including foodstuffs, the container platform comprising at least one of a sensor or a switch configured to determine that the container is received by the container receptacle;
- a blade platform including blades configured to rotate to process the foodstuffs;
- a locking mechanism configured to couple the container platform to the blade platform to form a blending chamber including the blades and the container subsequent to determining, using the at least one of the sensor or the switch, that the container is received by the container receptacle and prior to rotation of the blades, the locking mechanism engaged with the container platform responsive to rotation of the blade platform about an axis to position the blade platform proximate the container platform, the axis positioned normal to a face of the blade platform;
- and
- a blade shield coupled with the blade platform, the blade shield to be rotated by an actuator to a position adjacent to the blade platform to at least partially enclose a volume defined by the blade assembly, the locking mechanism including a latch configured to lock the blade shield to the blade platform.
A method for processing foodstuffs, comprising:
- determining, by at least one of a sensor or a switch, that a container is received by a container receptacle of a container platform, the container platform comprising the at least one of the sensor or the switch, the container including foodstuffs;
- coupling the container platform to a blade platform, by a locking mechanism, subsequent to determining that the container is received by the container receptacle;
- rotating, by an actuator, a blade shield to a position adjacent to the blade platform to at least partially enclose a volume defined by a blade assembly of the blade platform;
- locking, by a latch of the locking mechanism, the blade shield to the blade platform;
- and
- rotating blades of the blade assembly of the blade platform to process the foodstuffs subsequent to coupling the container platform to the blade platform.
