Abstract
A method including storing, by a first device in a mesh network, stored connection state information associated with an outgoing communication transmitted by the first device; determining, by the first device, observed connection state information based at least in part on receiving an incoming communication from a second device in the mesh network; comparing, by the first device, the observed connection state information with the stored connection state information; and selectively processing, by the first device, the incoming communication based at least in part on a result of the comparing. Various other aspects are contemplated.

A method, comprising:
- storing, by a first device in a mesh network, stored connection state information associated with an outgoing communication transmitted by the first device, the stored connection state information indicating a first source address and a first destination address;
- determining, by the first device, observed connection state information based at least in part on receiving an incoming communication from a second device in the mesh network, the observed connection state information indicating a second source address and a second destination address;
- determining, by the first device, whether the second device is permitted to transmit initiation communications to the first device;
- selectively comparing, by the first device based at least in part on determining whether the second device is permitted to transmit the initiation communications to the first device, the observed connection state information with the stored connection state information to determine whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication;
- and
- selectively processing, by the first device, the incoming communication based at least in part on determining whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication.
A first device, comprising:
- a memory;
- and
- a processor communicatively coupled to the memory, the memory and the processor being configured to:
- store, while operating in a mesh network, stored connection state information associated with an outgoing communication transmitted by the first device, the stored connection state information indicating a first source address and a first destination address;
- determine observed connection state information based at least in part on receiving an incoming communication from a second device in the mesh network, the observed connection state information indicating a second source address and a second destination address;
- determine whether the second device is permitted to transmit initiation communications to the first device;
- selectively compare, based at least in part on determining whether the second device is permitted to transmit the initiation communications to the first device, the observed connection state information with the stored connection state information to determine whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication;
- and
- selectively process the incoming communication based at least in part on a determining whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium configured to store instructions, which when executed by a processor associated with a first device, configure the processor to:
- store, while operating in a mesh network, stored connection state information associated with an outgoing communication transmitted by the first device, the stored connection state information indicating a first source address and a first destination address;
- determine observed connection state information based at least in part on receiving an incoming communication from a second device in the mesh network, the observed connection state information indicating a second source address and a second destination address;
- determine whether the second device is permitted to transmit initiation communications to the first device;
- selectively compare, based at least in part on determining whether the second device is permitted to transmit the initiation communications to the first device, the observed connection state information with the stored connection state information to determine whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication;
- and
- selectively process the incoming communication based at least in part on determining whether the incoming communication is an initiation communication or a response communication.
