Durable water resistant coatings

An article, comprising:

• a crosslinked polymer matrix crosslinked with divinylbenzene, wherein the crosslinked polymer matrix comprises pendant groups in an amount between 40 wt. % and 70 wt. % based on a total weight of the crosslinked polymer matrix, wherein the pendant groups comprise a spacer group directly attached to a C7 perfluoroalkyl group, wherein the spacer group is a —C(O)— O—CH2— group, wherein the crosslinked polymer matrix has a water contact angle of greater than 90°, and wherein the crosslinked polymer matrix is covalently bound to a substrate.
