Abstract
A system (2) for storing and delivering a gas includes a container (4), a porous absorbent material (7) provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas in a concentrated form, and an adapter assembly (6) structured to be coupled to the container. The adapter assembly is structured to enable the gas to be extracted from the container and delivered to an individual through a cannula or the like.
Claims18
A system for storing and delivering a gas consisting of oxygen or air to an individual, comprising:
- a container;
- a porous absorbent material provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- and
- as adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas consisting of oxygen or air to be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the container comprises a metal can, wherein the metal can has a volume of 0.333 L to 10 L and a wall thickness of 0.097 mm to 10 mm and is made of aluminum, steel or tin such that the metal can is structured for low pressure gas storage and not structured for storage of liquid or gas at pressures greater than low pressures.
A system for storing and delivering a gas consisting of oxygen or air to an individual, comprising:
- a container;
- a porous adsorbent material provided within the container, the porous adsorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- and
- an adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas consisting of oxygen or air to be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the adapter assembly includes a main body portion made of an elastomeric material and an O-ring member coupled to an interior of the main body portion, wherein the O-ring member is structured to directly engage and form a seal against an outside surface of the container when the adapter assembly is coupled to the container.
A system for storing and delivering a gas consisting of oxygen or air to an individual, comprising:
- a container,
- a porous absorbent material provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- and
- an adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas consisting of oxygen or air to be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the container includes a top lip member, wherein the adapter assembly includes a main body portion and a plurality of retractable hook members coupled to an interior of the main body portion, the hook members being structured to engage the top lip member of the container to secure the adapter assembly to the container when the adapter assembly is coupled to the container.
A system for storing and delivering a gas consisting of oxygen or air to an individual, comprising:
- a container;
- a porous absorbent material provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- and
- an adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas consisting of oxygen or air to be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the adapter assembly includes a punch mechanism that is held by the main housing portion, wherein the punch mechanism is structured to puncture the container in order to initiate a flow of the gas from the container.
A system for storing and delivering a gas consisting of oxygen or air to an individual, comprising:
- a container;
- a porous absorbent material provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- and
- an adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas to consisting of oxygen or air be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the adapter assembly includes a regulator assembly that is structured to adjustably control a flow rate of the gas delivered from the container.
A system for storing and delivering a gas, comprising:
- a container;
- a porous absorbent material provided within the container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas in a concentrated form;
- and
- an adapter assembly structured to be coupled to the container, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas to be extracted from the container and delivered to an individual, wherein the adapter assembly includes a regulator assembly that is structured to adjustably control a flow rate of the gas delivered from the container, wherein the regulator assembly includes a knob coupled to a screw, a spring, and a sliding valve provided between the screw and the spring, wherein adjustment of the knob causes the sliding valve to move.
A method of providing a gas consisting of oxygen or air to and individual, comprising:
- inserting a porous absorbent material inside a container, the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air in a concentrated form;
- providing the container including the porous absorbent material storing the gas consisting of oxygen or air to the individual, and
- providing an adapter assembly structure to be coupled to the container to the individual, the adapter assembly being structured to enable the gas to be extracted from the container and delivered to the individual, wherein the adapter assembly includes a punch mechanism structured to puncture the container in order to initiate a flow of the gas from the container.
