Methods, system and apparatuses for in situ removal of window distortion

A system for reducing optical distortion from a transparent substrate, the system comprising:

• a first heat source configured to contact a first side of a transparent substrate, said transparent substrate comprising an amount of optical distortion;
• a first controller configured to control a desired temperature of the first heat source for a predetermined amount of time, said first controller in communication with the first heat source;
• a second heat source configured to be positioned proximate to a second side of the transparent substrate,
• a second controller configured to control a desired temperature of the second heat source for a predetermined amount of time, said second controller in communication with the second heat source;
• and
• wherein the transparent substrate comprises at least two layers of dissimilar material.
