Abstract
The present invention relates to a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional support medium that facilitates artistic expression and the creation and display of macroscopic art, design that is applied art and architecture. The invention also relates to various methods of making such novel support mediums and the works of art, design and architecture they are made as or into. Examples are works of art, design and architecture made with new and extraordinary aesthetic and/or functional properties from the use of nanomaterials.
Claims22
A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional image-making support medium that facilitates the creation and display of a two or three-dimensional macroscopic work of art, design that is applied art, and/or architecture,
- making the support medium or work so that it is macroscopic and two or three-dimensional, and so that it is a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries, and
- making the support medium or the work with at least one nanomaterial that affects the color or adds to the color of the support medium or the work, which is a nanomaterial not found in nature and other than a carbon nanotube or fullerene added to conductive polymer or to a material that has conductive polymer to improve its conductive or emissive properties, and
- making the support medium or work as or into a two or three-dimensional artwork, work of design that is applied art or architecture that lacks a means of interactivity or of actively changing more complex than or other than a conventional on/off or dimmer, and also
- making this aesthetic work other than a conventional utilitarian:
- computer, camera, phone, personal digital assistant device, digital photo frame, digital picture frame, portable media player device or wrist watch.
A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional support medium for a work of design that is applied art, that facilitates the creation and presentation of a two or three-dimensional work of design that is applied art,
- making the support medium or work macroscopic and two or three-dimensional, with at least one nanomaterial that is not found in nature and that is other than a carbon nanotube or fullerene added to conductive polymer or to a material that has conductive polymer to improve its conductive or emissive properties,
- making the support medium or work with a macroscopic material or composition that is incapable of actively changing over time using a means more complex than or other than a conventional on/off or dimmer,
- making the support medium or work as or into a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries,
- making the support medium or work as or into a macroscopic two or three-dimensional work of design that is applied art, and
- making this work of applied art so that it is other than a conventional utilitarian:
- computer, camera, phone, personal digital assistant device, digital photo frame, digital picture frame, portable media player device or wrist watch.
A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional support medium for a work of art, that facilitates the creation and display of a two or three-dimensional work of art,
- making the support medium or work macroscopic and two or three-dimensional, with at least one nanomaterial that is not found in nature and that is other than a carbon nanotube or fullerene added to conductive polymer or to a material that has conductive polymer to improve its conductive or emissive properties,
- making the support medium or work with a macroscopic material or composition that is incapable of actively changing over time using a means more complex than or other than a conventional on/off or dimmer,
- making the support medium or work as or into a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries,
- making the support medium or work as or into a macroscopic two or three-dimensional work of art, and
- making this artwork so that it is other than a conventional utilitarian:
- digital photo frame, digital picture frame or portable media player device.
A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional support medium for a work of architecture that facilitates the creation and presentation of a three-dimensional work of architecture,
- making the support medium or work macroscopic and two or three-dimensional, with at least one nanomaterial that is not found in nature and that is other than a carbon nanotube or fullerene added to conductive polymer or to a material that has conductive polymer to improve its conductive or emissive properties,
- making the support medium or work with a macroscopic material or composition that is incapable of actively changing over time using a means more complex than or other than a conventional on/off or dimmer,
- making the support medium or work as or into a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries, and
- making the support medium or work as or into a macroscopic three-dimensional work of architecture.
A method of making a macroscopic, two or three-dimensional image-making support medium that facilitates the creation and display of a two or three-dimensional macroscopic work of art, design that is applied art, and/or architecture,
- making the support medium or work so that it is macroscopic and two or three-dimensional, and so that it is a whole in and of itself with distinct edges or boundaries,
- making the support medium or work with at least one light emitter that is:
- a small molecule organic light-emitting diode (OLED) or SMOLED;
- an OLED free of conductive polymer;
- a phosphorescent OLED or PHOLED;
- a stacked OLED or SOLED;
- or a light emitter made with at least one nanomaterial not found in nature and other than a carbon nanotube or fullerene added to conductive polymer or to a material that has conductive polymer to improve its conductive or emissive properties,
- making the image support or work with a macroscopic, non-light-emissive material, composition or part that is incapable of actively changing over time using a means more complex than or other than a conventional on/off or dimmer,
- making the support medium or work as or into a two or three-dimensional artwork, work of design that is applied art or architecture, and also
- making this aesthetic work other than a conventional opaque utilitarian:
- computer, camera, phone, digital photo frame, digital picture frame, portable media player device or wrist watch.
