Abstract
The present disclosure provides a detergent additives and methods for preparing a sulfurized alkyl phenate product to achieve a high sulfurization ratio and low levels of unsulfurized alkyl phenols.
Claims20
A sulfurized metal phenate detergent comprising a compound of Formula I and a compound of Formula II:
- wherein
- each R1, independently, is a C12 to C20 alkyl group;
- R2 is hydrogen, an alkyl group, an alkylamino group, or a hydroxyalkyl group;
- x is an integer from 1 to 4;
- n is an integer from 1 to 3;
- m is an integer of 0 or 1;
- and
- M2+ is a divalent metal ion.

A sulfurized metal phenate detergent comprising a compound of Formula I and a compound of Formula II:
- wherein
- each R1, independently, is an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkylaryl group, or arylalkyl group;
- R2 is hydrogen, an alkyl group, an alkylamino group, or a hydroxyalkyl group;
- x is an integer from 1 to 4;
- n is an integer from 1 to 3;
- m is an integer of 0 or 1;
- and
- M2+ is a divalent metal ion, and
- wherein the detergent includes about 0.01 to about 0.5 weight percent of the compound of Formula II.
