A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium embodying a set of instructions, which when executed by a processing resource of a local cluster of a high-availability (HA) storage solution operable at a first site, cause the local cluster to:
- maintain a local configuration database including configuration information indicative of a direction of data replication for a dataset of a local consistency group (CG) that is mirrored between the local CG and a remote CG, wherein the local CG includes a plurality of volumes of the local cluster and the remote CG includes a corresponding plurality of volumes of a remote cluster of the HA storage solution that is operable at a second site;
- responsive to a failover that has caused (i) the local cluster to be placed into a primary role for serving input/output (I/O) operations relating to the mirrored dataset and (ii) the remote cluster to be placed into a secondary role for serving the I/O operations:
- cause the remote cluster, with atomicity on a remote configuration database, to:
- delete an existing source configuration persisted within the remote configuration database that identifies the remote cluster as a source of data replication;
- and
- persist a new destination configuration within the remote configuration database that identifies the remote cluster as a destination of the data replication;
- with atomicity on the local configuration database:
- delete an existing destination configuration persisted within the local configuration database that identifies the local cluster as the destination;
- and
- persist a new source configuration within the local configuration database that identifies the local cluster as the source.
