Abstract
Systems and methods for cooling a data center are disclosed. In at least one embodiment, a radiator is associated with one or more racks of a datacenter and has a first portion to function as an air-to-liquid heat exchanger having a primary cooling loop to absorb first heat away from the one or more racks and has a second portion to function as a liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger to enable at least one secondary cooling loop to exchange second heat with the primary cooling loop.
Claims25
A datacenter cooling system, comprising:
- a radiator comprising an air-to-liquid heat exchanger to transfer first heat away from heated air to primary coolant in a primary cooling loop, and a liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger to transfer second heat from a secondary coolant in a secondary cooling loop to the primary coolant in the primary cooling loop, the first and second heat associated with at least one computing component of one or more racks.
A datacenter cooling system, comprising:
- a primary cooling loop that uses a primary coolant to absorb first heat away from one or more racks using an air-to-liquid heat exchanger of a unified radiator and that uses the primary coolant to exchange second heat from a secondary coolant of a secondary cooling loop using a liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger of the unified radiator, the primary cooling loop associated with a chiller facility and the secondary cooling loop associated with at least one computing device.
A method for a datacenter liquid cooling system, comprising:
- providing a radiator associated with one or more racks of a datacenter;
- enabling a first portion of the radiator to function as an air-to-liquid heat exchanger having a primary cooling loop that uses a primary coolant to absorb first heat away from the one or more racks;
- and
- enabling a second portion of the radiator to function as a liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger so that at least one secondary cooling loop having a secondary coolant is enabled to exchange second heat with the primary cooling loop, the second heat associated with at least one computing component of the one or more racks.
