Systems and methods for generating avatar reactions during a live video broadcast

A system comprising:

• at least one physical processor;
• and
• physical memory comprising computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the at least one physical processor, cause the at least one physical processor to perform acts comprising:
• generating, in connection with a social networking system user, at least one avatar reaction based on at least one emoticon reaction during a live video broadcast via a social networking system by:
• accessing an avatar associated with the social networking system user, and
• modifying one or more features of the avatar based on the at least one emoticon reaction;
• detecting a selection of the at least one avatar reaction during the live video broadcast;
• and
• adding the at least one avatar reaction to an ephemeral reaction stream associated with the live video broadcast.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising one or more computer-executable instructions that, when executed by at least one processor of a computing device, cause the computing device to:

• generate, in connection with a social networking system user, at least one avatar reaction based on at least one emoticon reaction during a live video broadcast via a social networking system by:
• accessing an avatar associated with the social networking system user, and
• modifying one or more features of the avatar based on the at least one emoticon reaction;
• detect a selection of the at least one avatar reaction during the live video broadcast;
• and
• add the at least one avatar reaction to an ephemeral reaction stream associated with the live video broadcast.
