Abstract
Disclosed in some examples are methods, systems, devices, and machine-readable mediums which provide a wearable device, such as a smart ring, that provides feedback to guide users in performing physical tasks. Tasks may include tasks associated with an application executing on a mobile device of the user.
Claims20
A method of providing haptic feedback to assist a user in completing a physical task, the method comprising:
- determining a first spatial relationship between a computing device and an object using a sensor on the computing device;
- determining a target spatial relationship between the computing device and the object, the target spatial relationship different than the first spatial relationship;
- determining a third spatial relationship between a wearable computing device of the user and the computing device using a second sensor on the computing device or a first sensor on the wearable computing device;
- selecting, based upon a difference between the first spatial relationship and the target spatial relationship, a movement direction of the computing device to achieve the target spatial relationship;
- selecting, based upon the movement direction and the third spatial relationship between the wearable computing device of the user and the computing device, a haptic feedback;
- and
- causing the haptic feedback to be delivered to the user through the wearable computing device of the user.
A computing device for providing haptic feedback to assist a user in completing a physical task, the computing device comprising:
- a hardware processor;
- a memory, the memory storing instructions, which when executed by the hardware processor, causes the hardware processor to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first spatial relationship between the computing device and an object using a sensor on the computing device;
- determining a target spatial relationship between the computing device and the object, the target spatial relationship different than the first spatial relationship;
- determining a third spatial relationship between a wearable computing device of the user and the computing device using a second sensor on the computing device or a first sensor on the wearable computing device;
- selecting, based upon a difference between the first spatial relationship and the target spatial relationship, a movement direction of the computing device to achieve the target spatial relationship;
- selecting, based upon the movement direction and the third spatial relationship between the wearable computing device of the user and the computing device, a haptic feedback;
- and
- causing the haptic feedback to be delivered to the user through the wearable computing device of the user.
A machine-readable medium, storing instructions for providing haptic feedback to assist a user in completing a physical task, the instructions, when executed by a computing device, causes the computing device to perform operations comprising:
- determining a first spatial relationship between the computing device and an object using a sensor on the computing device;
- determining a target spatial relationship between the computing device and the object, the target spatial relationship different than the first spatial relationship;
- determining a third spatial relationship between a wearable computing device of the user and the computing device using a second sensor on the computing device or a first sensor on the wearable computing device;
- selecting, based upon a difference between the first spatial relationship and the target spatial relationship, a movement direction of the computing device to achieve the target spatial relationship;
- selecting, based upon the movement direction and the third spatial relationship between the wearable computing device of the user and the computing device, a haptic feedback;
- and
- causing the haptic feedback to be delivered to the user through the wearable computing device of the user.
