Terminal device, information processing device, object identifying method, program, and object identifying system

An information processing method, executed by a processor, the method comprising:

• extracting a first feature quantity from a first image including an object, the first image being acquired by an image sensor;
• transmitting first information including the extracted first feature quantity;
• receiving, based on the transmitted first information, second information including second feature quantities related to the object;
• and
• initiating output of an output image including augmented reality (AR) content based on identification of the object,
• wherein the object is identified in a second image by matching one or more of the second feature quantities and corresponding feature quantities of the second image,
• wherein the second image is acquired after the first image, and
• wherein the output image includes the second image overlaid with the AR content at a position corresponding to the object in the second image.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having embodied thereon a program, which when executed by a computer causes the computer to perform a method, the method comprising:

• extracting a first feature quantity from a first image including an object, the first image being acquired by an image sensor;
• transmitting first information including the extracted first feature quantity;
• receiving, based on the transmitted first information, second information including second feature quantities related to the object;
• and
• initiating output of an output image including augmented reality (AR) content based on identification of the object,
• wherein the object is identified in a second image by matching one or more of the second feature quantities and corresponding feature quantities of the second image,
• wherein the second image is acquired after the first image, and
• wherein the output image includes the second image overlaid with the AR content at a position corresponding to the object in the second image.

An information processing system comprising:

• an information processing apparatus including circuitry configured to
• extract a first feature quantity from a first image including an object, the first image being acquired by an image sensor,
• transmit first information to a server including the extracted first feature quantity,
• receive, based on the transmitted first information, second information from the server including second feature quantities related to the object, and
• initiate output of an output image including augmented reality (AR) content based on identification of the object;
• the server including circuitry configured to
• receive the first information from the information processing apparatus,
• identify the object by using the received first information and a first feature quantity dictionary, and
• transmit a second feature quantity dictionary including the second feature quantities to the information processing apparatus as the second information;
• and
• at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium configured to store the second feature quantity dictionary that is used by the information processing apparatus to identify the object in a second image,
• wherein the information processing apparatus identifies the object in the second image by matching one or more of the second feature quantities included in the second feature quantity dictionary and corresponding feature quantities of the second image,
• wherein the second image is acquired after the first image, and
• wherein the output image includes the second image overlaid with the AR content at a position corresponding to the object in the second image.
