Abstract
An enhanced control, in which a guide line is defined relative to an object in a user interface, items aligned with the guide line are displayed without obscuring the object. A selected item is output based on receiving a selection of one of the displayed items.
Claims30
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- displaying an object in a user interface, wherein the object comprises a non-control portion and a control portion used for item selection;
- displaying a guide line at a location within the user interface based on a position of the non-control portion of the object displayed in the user interface and a determined range of motion of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface, wherein the guide line forms a circle surrounding the non-control portion of the object at a distance from the non-control portion of the object equal to a length of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface;
- displaying at least one item aligned with the guide line;
- highlighting the at least one item;
- receiving input associated with the at least one item;
- and
- outputting, based on the input associated with the at least one item, information associated with the at least one item.

A device comprising:
- at least one memory;
- and
- at least one processor coupled with the at least one memory and configured to:
- cause an object to be displayed in a user interface, wherein the object comprises a non-control portion and a control portion used for item selection;
- cause a guide line to be displayed at a location within the user interface based on a position of the non-control portion of the object displayed in the user interface and a determined range of motion of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface, wherein the guide line forms a circle surrounding the non-control portion of the object at a distance from the non-control portion of the object equal to a length of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface;
- cause at least one item to be displayed in alignment with the guide line;
- highlight the at least one item;
- receive input associated with the at least one item;
- and
- output, based on the input associated with the at least one item, information associated with the at least one item.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions embedded thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
- cause an object to be displayed in a user interface, wherein the object comprises a non-control portion and a control portion used for item selection;
- cause a guide line to be displayed at a location within the user interface based on a position of the non-control portion of the object displayed in the user interface and a determined range of motion of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface, wherein the guide line forms a circle surrounding the non-control portion of the object at a distance from the non-control portion of the object equal to a length of the control portion of the object displayed in the user interface;
- cause at least one item to be displayed in alignment with the guide line;
- highlight the at least one item;
- receive input associated with the at least one item;
- and
- output, based on the input associated with the at least one item, information associated with the at least one item.
