Debugger for quantum computers

A non-transitory computer readable medium retaining program instructions, wherein the program instructions are configured, when executed, to cause a processor to perform:

• during a debugging session of a quantum program, obtaining a debugging instruction from a user, wherein the quantum program is configured to perform at least one manipulation of a qubit, wherein the quantum program defines a terminating cycle at which the quantum program ends;
• based on the debugging instruction, partially executing the quantum program a plurality of times, wherein during each partial execution of the quantum program, a measurement of the qubit at an intermediate cycle is obtained, wherein the partial execution terminates at the intermediate cycle and without reaching the terminating cycle, whereby obtaining a plurality of measurements of the qubit at the intermediate cycle in a plurality of partial executions of the quantum program;
• and
• determining a value of the qubit at the intermediate cycle based on the plurality of measurements of the qubit that were obtained at the intermediate cycle.

A system comprising:

• a memory unit, wherein said memory unit retains a quantum program that is configured to perform at least one manipulation of a qubit, wherein the quantum program defines a terminating cycle at which the quantum program ends;
• a classic computer configured to provide a user interface of a debugger of the quantum program, wherein the classic computer is configured to obtain a debugging instruction from a user during a debugging session;
• and
• a quantum computer;
• wherein said quantum computer is configured to partially execute, based on the debugging instruction, the quantum program a plurality of times, wherein during each partial execution of the quantum program, a measurement of the qubit at an intermediate cycle is obtained, wherein the partial execution that terminates at the intermediate cycle and without reaching the terminating cycle, whereby obtaining a plurality of measurements of the qubit at the intermediate cycle in a plurality of partial executions of the quantum program;
• wherein said system is configured to determine a value of the qubit at the intermediate cycle based on the plurality of measurements obtained of the qubit at the intermediate cycle.
