Liquid crystal display device

A liquid crystal display device, comprising:

• a liquid crystal panel that includes a liquid crystal layer containing a liquid crystal composition;
• and
• a light source that emits light on the liquid crystal panel, wherein
• the liquid crystal composition contains a first liquid crystal compound containing a phenyl group and a conjugated bond group that forms a continuous conjugated system with the phenyl group and a second liquid crystal compound containing an alkenyl group not forming a conjugated system, and contains the second liquid crystal compound in an amount of 51% by weight or more,
• the light source emits green light having a half width of less than 50 nm,
• the first liquid crystal compound contains at least one of partial structures represented by the following formulas (L1) to (L5):
• in (L1) to (L5), X11 to X16, X21 to X24, X31 to X34, X41 to X44, and X51 to X53 each independently represent a hydrogen group or a halogen group;
• and * represents a binding site, the second liquid crystal compound containing at least one of partial structures represented by the following formulas (L6) and L7):
• in the formulas (L6) and (L7), R1 represents a C1-C3 alkyl group;
• and * represents a binding site, and
• the liquid crystal panel includes a blue color filter, the blue color filter having a maximum transmiittance of 85% or higher to 100% or lower in the wavelength band of 400 nm or more and less than 500 nm.
