Abstract
Aspects of the present disclosure include an aircraft with auxiliary components that are powered by an external power supply. Auxiliary components may include components that are used while the aircraft is grounded. Auxiliary components may be off while the aircraft is in flight.
Claims20
An apparatus for powering auxiliary components on an aircraft, the apparatus comprising:
- an aircraft;
- an auxiliary component configured to operate while the aircraft is grounded;
- a charging connector comprising a tether, wherein the tether comprises:
- a first power conductor comprising a first cable and a first contact, wherein the first power conductor is a high voltage conductor;
- and
- a second power conductor comprising a second cable and a second contact, wherein the second power conductor is a low voltage conductor;
- and
- a port comprising an auxiliary conductor in electric communication with the auxiliary component, the port configured to receive power from a power source using the charging connector and facilitate the transfer of power from the power source to the auxiliary component.

A method of powering auxiliary components in an aircraft, the method comprising:
- receiving an auxiliary component;
- receiving power from a power source to a port, wherein the port comprises an auxiliary conductor, wherein the power source comprises a charging connector comprising a tether, wherein the tether comprises:
- a first power conductor comprising a first cable and a first contact, wherein the first power conductor is a high voltage conductor;
- and
- a second power source comprising a second cable and a second contact, wherein the second power conductor is a low voltage conductor;
- and
- transmitting power from the port to the auxiliary component in electrical communication with the port.
