Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of removing blood from an extracorporeal blood circuit following termination of a blood treatment session, wherein blood is concurrently removed both from an arterial conduit portion and from a venous conduit portion of the extracorporeal blood circuit. It further relates to a method for recognizing and/or eliminating air inclusions in or from an extracorporeal blood circuit and a treatment apparatus as well as a tube system.
Claims28
A treatment apparatus comprising:
- at least one extracorporeal blood circuit comprising:
- an arterial conduit portion having a conduit interior and an arterial patient tube clamp;
- a venous conduit portion having a conduit interior and a venous patient tube clamp;
- an arterial needle;
- and
- a venous needle;
- at least one conveyor comprising a blood pump arranged at or in the extracorporeal blood circuit and adapted to convey blood within the extracorporeal blood circuit;
- at least one second pump adapted to pump at least one liquid into the extracorporeal blood circuit;
- and
- at least one controller configured to concurrently remove blood, via the at least one liquid pumped into the extracorporeal blood circuit while a patient is connected to the treatment apparatus, from both the arterial conduit portion and from the venous conduit portion of the extracorporeal blood circuit and towards the arterial needle and the venous needle, respectively,
- wherein, during the removal of blood both from the arterial conduit portion and from the venous conduit portion, both the arterial patient tube clamp and the venous patient tube clamp are in an opened state.

A treatment apparatus comprising:
- a fluid conveyance system comprising:
- a dialyzer;
- a solution supply line connected to the dialyzer and a solution source;
- an outlet line connected to the dialyzer;
- an arterial conduit portion connected to the dialyzer, the arterial conduit portion comprising a conduit interior and an arterial patient tube clamp;
- and
- a venous conduit portion connected to the dialyzer, the venous conduit portion comprising a conduit interior and a venous patient tube clamp;
- an arterial needle;
- and
- a venous needle;
- a blood pump arranged along the fluid conveyance system and adapted to convey blood within the fluid conveyance system;
- a second pump arranged along the fluid conveyance system and adapted to pump a liquid, via a liquid feed conduit, into the fluid conveyance system at an addition site along the fluid conveyance system;
- and
- at least one controller configured to concurrently remove blood, using the liquid pumped by the second pump into the fluid conveyance system while a patient is connected to the treatment apparatus, from both the arterial conduit portion and from the venous conduit portion of the fluid conveyance system and towards the arterial needle and the venous needle, respectively,
- wherein, during the removal of blood both from the arterial conduit portion and from the venous conduit portion, both the arterial patient tube clamp and the venous patient tube clamp are in an opened state.
