Abstract
An industrial fluid additive composition comprises one or more sequestering agents one or more compounds of formula (A): (A) wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from substituted hydrocarbyl moieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms or unsubstituted hydrocarbyl moieties containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.

An industrial fluid additive composition comprising:
- one or more sequestering agents, present in an amount of at least 5% by weight of the composition, wherein each of the one or more sequestering agents is a compound of formula (B):
- wherein R3 is a substituted hydrocarbyl group comprising one or two carbon atoms and one or two phosphonate moieties;
- and
- one or more compounds of formula (A):
- present in amounts in the range of from 10% to 50% by weight of the composition;
- wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from unsubstituted alkyl moieties containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and wherein the compound of formula (A) contains from 5 to 12 carbon atoms;
- and
- wherein the composition does not comprise a biocide.

A metalworking fluid comprising:
- water and an oil;
- one or more compounds of formula (A):
- present in an amount in the range of from 0.1% to 0.5% by weight of the fluid;
- wherein R1 and R2 are independently selected from unsubstituted alkyl moieties containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and wherein the compound of formula (A) contains from 5 to 12 carbon atoms;
- and
- one or more sequestering agents comprising a compound of formula (B):
- wherein R3 is a substituted alkyl group comprising one or two carbon atoms and one or two phosphonate moieties, present in an amount of from 0.01% to 0.15% by weight of the fluid.
