Abstract
An atomizer and an aerosol delivery device are described, where the atomizer has a fluid transport element formed from a rigid monolith having a first side and a second side opposite to the first side. The atomizer also has a heater. The heater provides a substantially planar heating surface. The heating surface is positioned to face the first side of the rigid monolith.
Claims20
An aerosol delivery device comprising:
- a shell;
- an airflow path through the shell;
- storage for a liquid aerosol precursor located within the shell;
- a monolithic element configured with a first side and a second side opposite the first side and including at least one aperture passing from the first side to the second side for providing a vapor conduit, at least a portion of the monolithic element being in fluid contact with the storage for the liquid aerosol precursor;
- and
- a vaporizing element having a substantially planar surface that is arranged relative to the first side of the monolithic element so as to be effective to vaporize liquid aerosol precursor from the storage and form vapor that exits from the at least one aperture through the second side of the monolithic element and into the airflow path.
