Claims6
A method of protecting seeds from oxidants and microorganisms prior to planting said seeds, said process comprising coating said seeds with an antioxidant effective amount and an antimicrobial effective amount of a composition comprising octyl gallate, nonyl gallate, or decyl gallate in an optional solvent and/or optional carrier prior to planting said seeds, and heating said seeds to a temperature of about 20° C. to about 70° C. when coating with octyl gallate or heating said seeds to a temperature of about 50° C. to about 70° C. when coating with nonyl gallate or decyl gallate for a time of about 5 minutes to about 60 minutes prior to planting said seeds.
