Abstract
An apparatus, system, and method for controlling data transfer to an output port of a serial data link interface in a semiconductor memory is disclosed. In one example, a flash memory device may have multiple serial data links, multiple memory banks and control input ports that enable the memory device to transfer the serial data to a serial data output port of the memory device. In another example, a flash memory device may have a single serial data link, a single memory bank, a serial data input port, a control input port for receiving output enable signals. The flash memory devices may be cascaded in a daisy-chain configuration using echo signal lines to serially communicate between memory devices.
Claims17
A non-volatile memory device comprising:
- a plurality of memory banks, each memory bank comprising a plurality of blocks, each block comprising a plurality of pages, each page comprising a plurality of non-volatile memory cells;
- a first input configured to receive a clock signal;
- a second input configured to receive a chip select signal;
- at least one common data interface configured to transfer at least one of command data, address data, write data, and read data when the chip select signal is at an active logic state, wherein the at least one of command data, address data, write data, and read data is transferred in synchronization with both rising and falling edges of the clock signal;
- control circuitry configured to perform a concurrent bank operation in the plurality of memory banks, the concurrent bank operation comprises one of a concurrent page program operation, a concurrent page read operation, and a concurrent block erase operation;
- and
- a status register configured to provide a status of the non-volatile memory device in response to the common data interface receiving a read status command set comprising a read status command data and a target device address data matching a device address of the non-volatile memory device;
- wherein the status of the non-volatile memory device comprises a ready/busy status and a pass/fail status.
A method of operating a system including a memory controller and a plurality of memory devices including a non-volatile memory device comprising a plurality of memory banks, the method comprising:
- transferring a plurality of data streams to and from the memory controller via any one of a plurality of common data interfaces of the non-volatile memory device, wherein each data stream comprises at least one of command data, address data, write data and read data, and wherein the at least one of command data, address data, write data, and read data is transferred in synchronization with both rising and falling edges of a clock signal received at the non-volatile memory device;
- at the non-volatile memory device, determining a first memory bank associated with a first data stream and a second memory bank associated with a second data stream;
- performing a first memory operation on the first memory bank and a second memory operation on the second memory bank concurrently;
- providing a read status command set from the memory controller to the common data interface of the non-volatile memory device, the read status command set comprising read status command data and target device address data;
- and
- in response to the target device address data of the read status command set matching a device address of the non-volatile memory device, providing, from a status register of the non-volatile memory device, status information comprising a ready/busy status and a pass/fail status.
A non-volatile memory device comprising:
- a plurality of memory blocks, each memory block comprising a plurality of pages, each page comprising a plurality of non-volatile memory cells;
- a clock input port configured to receive a clock input signal;
- a clock output port configured to transmit a clock output signal;
- a control input port configured to receive a chip select signal;
- a plurality of common data interfaces configured to transfer command data, address data, write data, and read data when the chip select signal is at an active low logic state, wherein, when the non-volatile memory device is configured as a double data rate configuration, the command data, address data, and write data are transferred in synchronization with both rising and falling edges of the clock input signal, and the read data is transferred in synchronization with both rising and falling edges of the clock output signal;
- a control circuitry configured to perform a program operation to program the write data on a selected page according to the command data and address data, and to perform a read operation to retrieve the read data from a different page other than the selected page before completion of the program operation;
- and
- a status register configured to provide a status of the program operation.
