Abstract
Provided is a composition for preventing, alleviating or treating dry eye syndrome, containing an Aucuba japonica extract as an active ingredient. The composition containing an Aucuba japonica extract can be effectively used in the prevention, alleviation or treatment of dry eye syndrome.

A method for treating dry eye syndrome, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an Aucuba japonica extract to a subject in need of treating the dry eye syndrome,
- wherein the Aucuba japonica extract comprises aucubin.
A method for increasing tear secretion amount, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an Aucuba japonica extract to a subject in need of increasing the tear secretion amount,
- wherein the Aucuba japonica extract comprises aucubin.
A method for treating corneal morphological change, comprising administering a therapeutically effective amount of an Aucuba japonica extract to a subject in need of treating the corneal morphological change,
- wherein the Aucuba japonica extract comprises aucubin.
