Abstract
The present invention is directed to the fabrication of head sliders for use in hard disk drives, and in particular the provision and usage of electrical bond pads on the slider surface structure to accommodate needs of the fabrication process as well as slider operation within a disk drive.
Claims16
A slider for use within a disk drive, the slider having magnetic read and write transducers, the slider comprising:
- a trailing edge,
- an array of transducer bond pads along the trailing edge, and
- at least one electrical lapping guide bond pad, wherein the electrical lapping guide bond pad is configured to be electrically connected to a transducer device after a lapping operation associated with the at least one electrical guide bond pad is ceased, and wherein the transducer device is configured to be functional during disk drive operation.
