Abstract
Disclosed is a method for performing a musical score, the method comprising generating a plurality of score maps using at least one of an electronic representation of the musical score and event-based notations for at least one musical note in the musical score, wherein each score map corresponds to a single performance characteristic of the musical score and contains a plurality of events related to the single performance characteristic, and wherein each of the plurality of score maps is processed by a processing block to generate a plurality of playback characteristic maps.
Claims21
A method for performing a musical score, the method comprising:
- generating a plurality of score maps using at least one of an electronic representation of the musical score and event-based notations for at least one musical note in the musical score,
- wherein each score map corresponds to a single performance characteristic of the musical score and contains a plurality of events related to the single performance characteristic, and
- wherein each of the plurality of score maps is processed by a processing block to generate a plurality of playback characteristic maps,
- wherein the single performance characteristic is selected from at least one of:
- a note position, a dynamic event, a tempo, a harmony, a layout, an articulation,
- wherein when the single performance characteristic is the dynamic event, the plurality of events related to the dynamic event corresponds to at least a dynamic intensity of the musical score, and
- wherein each score map corresponding to the single performance characteristic of the musical score comprises at least one ledger of the dynamic event, wherein the ledger of the dynamic events comprises values pertaining to overall dynamics intensity, and wherein the values pertaining to the overall dynamics intensity are generated using the dynamic events.
A system for performing a musical score, the system comprising:
- a plurality of score maps generated using at least one of an electronic representation of the musical score and event-based notations for at least one musical note in the musical score,
- wherein each score map corresponds to a single performance characteristic of the musical score and contains a plurality of events related to the single performance characteristic;
- and
- a plurality of processing blocks for processing the plurality of score maps to generate a plurality of play back characteristic maps,
- wherein the single performance characteristic is selected from at least one of:
- a note position, a dynamic event, a tempo, a harmony, a layout, an articulation,
- wherein when the single performance characteristic is the dynamic event, the plurality of events related to the dynamic event corresponds to at least a dynamic intensity of the musical score, and
- wherein each score map corresponding to the single performance characteristic of the musical score comprises at least one ledger of the dynamic event, wherein the ledger of the dynamic events comprises values pertaining to overall dynamics intensity, and wherein the values pertaining to the overall dynamics intensity are generated using the dynamic events.
