Abstract
A dynamization device includes a first module and a second module. The first and second modules are each rigidly affixed to and mated together by one or more deformable rings. Each of the first and second modules includes an inner column positioned within the one or more deformable rings. The mated first and second modules form a first displacement gap between the inner column of the first module and the inner column of the second module. The first displacement gap extends along the longitudinal axis between adjacent deformable rings of the one or more deformable rings.

A dynamization device having a longitudinal axis, the device comprising:
- a first module and a second module, wherein the first and second modules are each rigidly affixed to and mated together by one or more deformable rings, each of the first and second modules comprising an inner column positioned within the one or more deformable rings;
- wherein the mated first and second modules form a first displacement gap between the inner column of the first module and the inner column of the second module, the first displacement gap extending along the longitudinal axis between adjacent deformable rings of the one or more deformable rings.
A dynamization device having a longitudinal axis, the device comprising:
- a first module comprising:
- an outer wall,
- a first cap located at a first end of the first module, the first cap comprising a central aperture, and
- an inner column located at a first end of the first module, the inner column comprising a threaded recess at the first end that is aligned with the central aperture of the first cap,
- wherein the outer wall, the central aperture, the threaded recess, and the inner column of the first module are coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the device,
- a second module comprising:
- an outer wall,
- a second cap located at a second end of the second module, the second cap comprising a central aperture, and
- an inner column located at a second end of the second module, the inner column comprising a threaded recess at the second end,
- wherein the outer wall, the central aperture, the threaded recess, and the inner column of the second module are coaxial with the longitudinal axis,
- wherein the first and second modules can be mated together such that inner column of the first module is positioned within the outer wall of the second module and the inner column of the second module is positioned within the outer wall of the first module;
- wherein the mated first and second modules form a displacement gap between the inner column of the first module and the inner column of the second module;
- a plurality of proximal deformable rings positioned at the first end of the mated first and second modules, wherein each of the proximal deformable rings is connected to a portion the first module and to a portion of the second module by ring connectors that are radially positioned opposite each other thereby permitting the second module to be longitudinally displaced with respect to the first module by deforming the each of the proximal deformable rings;
- a plurality of distal deformable rings positioned at the second end of the mated first and second modules, wherein each of the distal deformable rings is connected to a portion the first module and to a portion of the second module by ring connectors that are radially positioned opposite each other thereby permitting the second module to be longitudinally displaced with respect to the first module by deforming the each of the distal deformable rings;
- a proximal minor column connected to a portion of the outer wall of the first module and a portion of one of the proximal deformable rings;
- a proximal major column connected to a portion of the outer wall of the second module and a portion of one of the proximal deformable rings, wherein the proximal major column is positioned on a radially opposite side of the device from the proximal minor column;
- a distal minor column connected to a portion of the outer wall of the second module, and a portion of one of the distal deformable rings;
- and
- a distal major column connected to a portion of the outer wall of the first module and a portion of one of the distal deformable rings, wherein the distal major column is positioned on a radially opposite side of the device from the distal minor column.
