Abstract
A control conduit for liquid hydrogen offloading is configured to couple a controller of a liquid hydrogen offload system to a liquid hydrogen tanker. The control conduit includes a control line and a gas detector. The control line is configured to transmit a control signal from the controller to the liquid hydrogen tanker. The gas detector is configured to detect hydrogen gas and provide a gas detector signal to the controller. The gas detector is secured to the control line at a predetermined distance from a tanker connection end of the control line.
Claims12
A control conduit configured to couple a controller of a liquid hydrogen offload system to a liquid hydrogen tanker and to detect hydrogen gas leakage at a coupling to the liquid hydrogen tanker, comprising:
- an air control line, configured to transmit a control signal from the controller to the liquid hydrogen tanker;
- a gas detector, configured to detect hydrogen gas leakage at a coupling to the liquid hydrogen tanker and to provide a gas detector signal to the controller indicative of a hydrogen gas leak at the coupling to the liquid hydrogen tanker;
- a connector configured to secure the gas detector to the air control line, wherein the connector is one or more of a fastener, a shroud, a housing, or a tubing;
- and
- wherein the gas detector is secured to the air control line at a predetermined distance from a tanker connection end of the air control line, wherein the predetermined distance is selected from the group consisting of:
- less than 5 cm, less than 10 cm, less than 15 cm, less than 20 cm, less than 25 cm, less than 50 cm, less than 100 cm, less than 150 cm and less than 200 cm.
A method of coupling a controller of a liquid hydrogen offload system to a liquid hydrogen tanker and detecting hydrogen gas leakage at a coupling to the liquid hydrogen tanker, comprising:
- providing a control conduit comprising:
- an air control line, wherein the air control line is configured to transmit a control signal from the controller to the liquid hydrogen tanker;
- a gas detector, wherein the gas detector is configured to detect hydrogen gas leakage at a coupling to the liquid hydrogen tanker and to provide a gas detector signal to the controller to indicate detection of a hydrogen leak;
- a connector, wherein the connector is configured to secure the gas detector to the air control line, wherein the connector comprises one or more of a fastener, a shroud, a housing, or a tubing;
- and
- a coupler at one end of the control conduit, wherein the gas detector is secured to the air control line at a predetermined distance selected from a group consisting of:
- less than 5 cm, less than 10 cm, less than 15 cm, less than 20 cm, less than 25 cm, less than 50 cm, less than 100 cm, less than 150 cm, and less than 200 cm from the coupler;
- and
- coupling the control conduit to a liquid hydrogen tanker.
