Abstract
An aqueous modified acid composition for industrial activities, said composition comprising: an alkanolamine and strong acid in a molar ratio of not less than 1:15, preferably not less than 1:10; it can also further comprise a metal iodide or iodate. Said composition demonstrates advantages over known conventional acids and modified acids.

A method of use of a modified acid composition comprising:
- providing a composition including a mineral acid and an alkanolamine in a molar ratio ranging from 3:1 to not more than 15:1 and having a pH of less than 1;
- introducing the composition to water to be treated in the water treatment industry;
- allowing the composition to act upon the water to be treated;
- and
- adjusting pH of the water being treated;
- and
- neutralizing alkaline effluent of the water being treated.

A method of use of a modified acid composition comprising:
- providing the modified acid composition having a mineral acid and an alkanolamine in a molar ratio ranging from 3:1 to not more than 15:1 and having a pH of less than 1;
- introducing the modified acid composition to soil in the fertilizer/landscaping industry to thereby adjust the pH level of the soil.
A method of use of a modified acid composition comprising:
- providing a composition including a mineral acid and an alkanolamine in a molar ratio ranging from 3:1 to not more than 15:1 and having a pH of less than introducing the composition to ion exchange beds to be treated;
- allowing the composition to act upon the ion exchange beds to be treated;
- and
- regenerating the ion exchange beds.
