## Abstract

Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for retrieving local information on a user device include detecting itinerary information stored by a first application on a user device, and identifying a travel destination based on the detected itinerary information. The travel destination is communicated to a second application executable on a user device, and the travel destination is stored in association with the second application. The second application is adapted to retrieve local information based on an identified geographic location, and local information for the travel destination is provided through the second application in response to a user interaction with the second application and based on a triggering threshold associated with the itinerary information.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A non-transitory machine readable medium storing instructions executable by an electronic device to perform operations comprising:
receiving, by a weather application, a travel destination based on information from a calendar application for a first user account;
identifying a time of travel for the travel destination based on the information received from the calendar application;
receiving a request to retrieve weather forecast data, by the weather application, in response to a suggestion to retrieve information related to a geographic location corresponding to the travel destination based on the time of travel;
retrieving weather forecast data associated with the identified geographic location corresponding to the travel destination; and
presenting the weather forecast data associated with the geographic location in response to the request.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 1, wherein the weather application is adapted to automatically retrieve information for the travel destination without user input to the electronic device, the information for the travel destination retrieved based on the identified geographic location associated with the travel destination.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 1, the operations additionally comprising:
providing, through the calendar application, updated information associated with the travel destination.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 3, wherein providing the information or the updated information associated with the travel destination includes displaying the information or updated information via a display of the electronic device.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 1, wherein the electronic device is a smart phone device or another handheld device.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 1, wherein the information stored by the calendar application is associated with a calendar event.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 1, additionally comprising:
providing, through the weather application, information associated with the travel destination in response to an interaction with the weather application.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 7, additionally comprising:
providing, through the weather application, information associated with the travel destination in response to a triggering threshold associated with a location of the electronic device or a local time associated with the electronic device.

### Claim 9 (depends on 8)

The non-transitory machine readable medium as in claim 8, the operations additionally comprising:
determining the location of the electronic device via a satellite-based or terrestrial-based positioning system.

### Claim 10

A method, the method comprising:
receiving, by a weather application, a travel destination based on information from a calendar application for a first user account;
identifying a time of travel for the travel destination based on the information received from the calendar application;
receiving a request to retrieve weather forecast data, by the weather application, in response to a suggestion to retrieve information related to a geographic location corresponding to the travel destination based on the time of travel;
retrieving weather forecast data associated with the identified geographic location corresponding to the travel destination; and
presenting the weather forecast data associated with the geographic location in response to the request.

### Claim 11 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, the method further comprising:
providing, through the calendar application, updated information associated with the travel destination.

### Claim 12 (depends on 11)

The method of claim 11, wherein providing the information or the updated information associated with the travel destination includes displaying the information or updated information via a display of an electronic device.

### Claim 13 (depends on 12)

The method of claim 12, wherein the electronic device is a smart phone device or another handheld device.

### Claim 14 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, wherein the information stored by the calendar application is associated with a calendar event.

### Claim 15 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, further comprising:
providing, through the weather application, information associated with the travel destination in response to an interaction with the weather application.

### Claim 16 (depends on 10)

The method of claim 10, further comprising:
providing, through a second application, information associated with the travel destination in response to a triggering threshold associated with a local time associated with the electronic device or a location of the electronic device, the location of the electronic device determined via a satellite-based or terrestrial-based positioning system.

### Claim 17

An electronic device comprising:
a memory to store instructions;
one or more processors coupled to the memory; and
a global positioning system receiver coupled to the processor, wherein the one or more processors are configured to execute the instructions stored in the memory and the instructions cause the one or more processors to:
receive, by a weather application, a travel destination based on information from a calendar application for a first user account;
identify a time of travel for the travel destination based on the information received from the calendar application;
receive a request to retrieve weather forecast data, by the weather application, in response to a suggestion to retrieve information related to a geographic location corresponding to the travel destination based on the time of travel;
retrieve weather forecast data associated with the identified geographic location corresponding to the travel destination; and
present the weather forecast data associated with the geographic location in response to the request.

### Claim 18 (depends on 17)

The electronic device as in claim 17, additionally comprising a display, wherein the one or more processors are to provide the information associated with the travel destination via the display.

### Claim 19 (depends on 17)

The electronic device as in claim 17, wherein the one or more processors are additionally to provide, through the second application, information associated with the travel destination in response to an interaction with the second application.

### Claim 20 (depends on 17)

The electronic device as in claim 17, wherein the one or more processors are additionally to provide, through the second application, information associated with the travel destination in response to a triggering threshold associated with a local time associated with the electronic device or a location of the electronic device, the location of the electronic device determined via the global positioning system receiver coupled to the one or more processors or a terrestrial-based positioning system.
