Abstract
A method for providing a singling device of a storage and dispensing container for drug portions is provided. A singling device is adapted to a specific drug portion based on the measurement of the drug portion. The measurement is obtained by generating at least one image of a to-be-measured drug portion by a detection device and using image analysis to process the at least one image. Drug information for the specific drug portion is determined, the drug information including at least the dimensions of the specific drug portion. Based on the determined drug information, a singling device fitting the drug portion to be singularized is identified and provided for use in the storage and dispensing container. A system for identifying a singling device is also provided.
Claims19
A method for providing a singling device of a storage and dispensing container for drug portions, the method comprising:
- placing a drug portion of a specific drug type on a top surface of a first light emitting source;
- generating, by first and second separate detection devices, an image of the drug portion by detecting, by the first detection device disposed above the drug portion and opposite the first light emitting source, rays of light transmitted past the drug portion by the first light emitting source in a first direction and by detecting, by the second detection device disposed opposite a second light emitting source, rays of light transmitted past the drug portion by the second light emitting source in a second direction different from the first direction;
- processing, by a control device using image analysis, the image;
- determining specified drug information for the placed drug portion, the specified drug information comprising at least the dimensions of the drug portion;
- and
- identifying, based on the determined drug information, a suitable singling device fitting the drug portions to be singularized.
A system for identifying a drug singling device, the system comprising:
- a first light emitting source configured to generate rays of light in a first direction;
- a first detection device opposing the first light emitting source in the first direction;
- a second light emitting source disposed orthogonally to the first light emitting source and configured to generate rays of light in a second direction;
- a second detection device opposing the second light emitting source in the second direction;
- and
- a control device operatively coupled to the first and second light emitting sources and to the first and second detection devices, the control device configured to detect rays of light transmitted past a drug portion from the first light emitting source in the first direction, the drug portion disposed on a top surface of the first light emitting source, and to detect rays of light transmitted past the drug portion from the second light emitting source in the second direction, the control device further configured to provide image-analytical processing of the image and to identify a suitable drug singling device for the drug portion.
