Abstract
A method for setting a value of an inactivity timer for transitioning between states of a data session in a network comprising a first entity and a second entity providing network analytics is provided. The method includes obtaining, by the second entity, input data comprising communication description information for at least one user equipment (UE), and providing, by the second entity to the first entity, output analytics generated based on the input data, the output analytics comprising UE communications analytics for each data session where the output analytics are used to determining whether to update a value of an inactivity timer for a data session.
Claims20
A method for setting a value of an inactivity timer for transitioning between states of a data session in a network comprising a session management function (SMF) and a network data analytics function (NWDAF) providing network data analytics, the method performed by the NWDAF comprising:
- receiving, from the SMF, first input data comprising at least one of a protocol data unit (PDU) session ID to identify a PDU session related to a user equipment (UE), a N4 session ID to identify a N4 session between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF), an inactivity detection time related to an inactivity timer, or a PDU session status indicating whether a status of the PDU session is activated or deactivated;
- receiving, from an access and mobility management function (AMF), second input data comprising a UE connection management (CM) state of the UE;
- and
- transmitting, to the SMF, analytics results provided by the NWDAF based on at least one of the first input data or the second input data, the analytics results comprising the N4 session ID and the inactivity detection time.
A method for setting a value of an inactivity timer for transitioning between states of a data session in a network comprising a session management function (SMF) and a network data analytics function (NWDAF) providing network data analytics, the method performed by the SMF comprising:
- transmitting, to the NWDAF, first input data comprising at least one of a protocol data unit (PDU) session ID to identify a PDU session related to a user equipment (UE), a N4 session ID to identify a N4 session between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF), an inactivity detection time related to an inactivity timer, or a PDU session status indicating whether a status of the PDU session is activated or deactivated;
- after transmitting the first input data, receiving, from the NWDAF, analytics results provided by the NWDAF based on at least one of the first input data or second input data, the second input data comprising a UE connection management (CM) state of the UE and provided from an access and mobility function (AMF) to the NWDAF, the analytics results comprising the N4 session ID and the inactivity detection time;
- deciding to update a value of the inactivity timer for the PDU session based on the analytics results;
- and
- informing the UPF of the updated value to determine transitions between states of the PDU session by using the updated value of the inactivity timer.
An apparatus for setting a value of an inactivity timer for transitioning between states of a data session in a network comprising a session management function (SMF) and a network data analytics function (NWDAF) providing network data analytics, the apparatus of the NWDAF comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- a processor coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- receive, from the SMF, first input data comprising at least one of a protocol data unit (PDU) session ID to identify a PDU session related to a user equipment (UE), a N4 session ID to identify a N4 session between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF), an inactivity detection time related to an inactivity timer, or a PDU session status indicating whether a status of the PDU session is activated or deactivated,
- receive, from an access and mobility management function (AMF), second input data comprising a UE connection management (CM) state of the UE, and
- transmit, to the SMF, analytics results provided by the NWDAF based on at least one of the first input data or the second input data, the analytics results comprising the N4 session ID and the inactivity detection time.
An apparatus for setting a value of an inactivity timer for transitioning between states of a data session in a network comprising a session management function (SMF) and a network data analytics function (NWDAF) providing network data analytics, the apparatus of the SMF comprising:
- a transceiver;
- and
- a processor coupled with the transceiver and configured to:
- transmit, to the NWDAF, first input data comprising at least one of a protocol data unit (PDU) session ID to identify a PDU session related to a user equipment (UE), a N4 session ID to identify a N4 session between the SMF and a user plane function (UPF), an inactivity detection time related to an inactivity timer, or a PDU session status indicating whether a status of the PDU session is activated or deactivated,
- receive, from the NWDAF, analytics results provided by the NWDAF based on the at least one of the first input data or second input data, after transmitting the first input data, the second input data comprising a UE connection management (CM) state of the UE and provided from an access and mobility function (AMF) to the NWDAF, the analytics results comprising UE communications analytics,
- deciding to update a value of the inactivity timer for the PDU session based on the analytics results, and
- inform the UPF of the updated value to determine transitions between states of the PDU session by using the updated value of the inactivity timer.
