Priority indication for downlink preemption and uplink cancellation

A method for wireless communications at a network device, comprising:

• transmitting, to a user equipment (UE), a configuration message comprising a parameter that indicates an operation state of the UE in which to apply a preemption indication to a set of time-frequency resources of a plurality of time-frequency resources scheduled for communications based at least in part on a priority of a channel associated with the preemption indication;
• transmitting, to the UE, a grant indicating the set of time-frequency resources scheduled for the channel;
• and
• transmitting an instance of the preemption indication, wherein a remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources is useable for communication by the network device via at least one channel, the remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources being different than the set of time-frequency resources.

An apparatus for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE), comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory comprises instructions executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• receive a configuration message comprising a parameter that indicates an operation state of the UE in which to apply a preemption indication to a set of time-frequency resources of a plurality of time-frequency resources scheduled for communications based at least in part on a priority of a channel associated with the preemption indication;
• receive an instance of the preemption indication;
• and
• apply, in accordance with the operation state, the preemption indication to the set of time-frequency resources based at least in part on the priority of the channel, wherein a remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources is useable for communication by the UE via at least one channel, the remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources being different than the set of time-frequency resources.

An apparatus for wireless communications at a network device, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory coupled with the processor, wherein the memory comprises instructions executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to:
• transmit, to a user equipment (UE), a configuration message comprising a parameter that indicates an operation state of the UE in which to apply a preemption indication to a set of time-frequency resources of a plurality of time-frequency resources scheduled for communications based at least in part on a priority of a channel associated with the preemption indication;
• transmit, to the UE, a grant indicating the set of time-frequency resources scheduled for the channel;
• and
• transmit an instance of the preemption indication, wherein a remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources is useable for communication by the network device via at least one channel, the remaining portion of the plurality of time-frequency resources being different than the set of time-frequency resources.
